It’s already been a number of weeks since my last ski day. Partly, of course, because spring is slowly arriving, but also because, as you probably know, my ski season had to be cut short due to my (slight) knee injury. The timing of this mild tear to the meniscus of my right knee could actually have been worse. I only missed the Swiss Championships on the Stoos and Hoch-Ybrig and, in fairness, a few worthwhile training and practice days.
But in the last few weeks of the ski season, I was anything but bored. My weekly programme was filled almost to the brim with lots of physio appointments and sponsor events. I was able to attend cool events like the Stöckli Day or the Wings for Life World Run, get involved and gain some fantastic lasting impressions as a result.
After enlisting for military service as soon as the season finished last spring, a break this year couldn’t have come sooner...
Following this long and successful ski season, I treated myself to the longest holiday I’ve been on in my life so far. I went travelling with friends for two-and-a-half weeks from Singapore to Lombok, to Gili Trawangan and then to Bali. It was an amazing holiday and I fully embraced the chance to experience a different way of life on the other side of the world.
Feeling very well rested and with an almost fully recovered knee, I’m now looking forward to lots of hard-core conditioning training!
I feel really good and my knee is almost ready to go at full throttle again.
Soon I’ll be off with the team to Mallorca – not to Ballermann to party, but to train on the racing bikes... ;-)
All the best
Marco
